In order to investigate the influence of reflective material on photovoltaic (PV) system energy yield, systems with or without reflective background were built according to the light distribution and changes of solar altitude angle. The power yield, irradiation, temperature and humidity were monitored in real time and the power yield differences were compared between PV systems with and without reflective background. The relationship between irradiation and power yield was analyzed in sunny day and cloudy or rainy days. The results showed that the energy gain rate of PV systems with reflective background was 5% ~ 10% compared to the PV systems without reflective background, and the average energy gain rate was 7.69%. The energy gain between the PV systems with and without reflective background was approximately inversely proportional to irradiation.
